Delete your BOTIA account and data
BOTIA is developed by ServiceHub, Tilburg, the Netherlands.
This page explains how to request the deletion of your BOTIA account and the data associated with it, what is deleted, and what is kept.
How to request deletion
1. Send an email to soporte@botia-safefood.com
2. Use Delete my BOTIA account as the subject line.
3. Send it from the same Google account you use to sign in to BOTIA. This is how we identify your record.
4. We confirm the request by email and complete the deletion within 30 days.
You do not need to give a reason. You can also request deletion at any time without cancelling a subscription first, although cancelling the subscription is managed separately through Google Play.
What BOTIA stores
BOTIA is designed to hold as little as possible. It does not store your name, your email address, your photos or your scan history.
| Data | Kept | On deletion |
|---|---|---|
| Anonymous user identifier | Yes | Deleted |
| Hashed Google identifier (one-way, cannot be reversed to an email) |
Yes | Deleted |
| Scan counters and last-use date | Yes | Deleted |
| Interface language and country code | Yes | Deleted |
| Subscription status and purchase token | Yes | Deleted |
| Label photographs | No | Never stored |
| Name, email address, profile picture | No | Never stored |
What is kept after deletion
Once your account is deleted, the record described above is removed and cannot be recovered.
Two things are not deleted, and neither identifies you:
- Anonymous scan records. BOTIA keeps the ingredient text read from labels, without any user identifier attached, to improve detection accuracy. These records cannot be linked back to you.
- Payment records held by Google. Purchases are processed by Google Play, not by BOTIA. Google keeps its own transaction records under its own retention rules. BOTIA cannot delete them.
