What it is
A group of sulfur-based preservatives and antioxidants that includes sulfur dioxide and several sodium, potassium and calcium sulphite salts, identified in the EU as E220–E228.
Why BOTIA flags it
BOTIA groups these declarations because the same family can appear under an E-number or a chemical name. EU food-information rules also treat sulfur dioxide and sulphites above the specified threshold as substances requiring allergen-style declaration.
