E432, E433, E434, E435, E436, polysorbate 20, polysorbate 80, polysorbate 40, polysorbate 60, polysorbate 65, polyoxyethylene sorbitan monolaurate, polyoxyethylene sorbitan monooleate, polyoxyethylene sorbitan monopalmitate, polyoxyethylene sorbitan monostearate, polyoxyethylene sorbitan tristearate

What it is

A family of emulsifiers and stabilisers based on polyoxyethylene sorbitan fatty-acid esters, identified in the EU as E432–E436.

Why BOTIA flags it

BOTIA groups polysorbates because product labels often use the individual polysorbate number or E-number rather than the full chemical name.

BOTIA CAN

  • Detect E432–E436, polysorbate numbers and the principal chemical names.
  • Show the texture and E-number context for the declared emulsifier.

BOTIA CANNOT

  • Determine concentration or fatty-acid composition from the ingredient list.
  • Treat all polysorbates as one identical substance or infer an individual health effect from their presence.
