A synthetic certified food colour known as Brilliant Blue FCF and declared under different names or numbering systems depending on the market.
Why BOTIA flags it
Brilliant Blue is barely absorbed in the intestine: most of it passes through without entering the bloodstream. JECFA established an acceptable daily intake and found no health concern at estimated dietary exposure. In the United States, several companies have committed to removing petroleum-based food dyes — a voluntary commitment, not a ban. The label does not tell you how much it contains.
