What it is
Alcohol on a label is ethanol. It may be added to the food itself, or used as a solvent to carry the flavourings. In the ingredient list it may say alcohol, ethanol or ethyl alcohol.
Why BOTIA flags it
Alcohol is forbidden in Islamic law, so if the label declares it there is nothing to weigh up: it is Haram, not Mushbooh. WHO states that no safe level of alcohol consumption can be established where cancer risk is concerned. Even small amounts raise the risk, breast cancer included.
BOTIA CAN
